The Need for Innovation in Wastewater Management

Gregg Keener May 02, 2023

Why we need new ideas for solve tomorrow's problems

It’s likely that wastewater has always been an issue.  Perhaps as long as there have been human beings, there has been a need for better, cleaner, faster, and more efficient improvements in how wastewater is handled, treated, and managed.  As we continue to concentrate the population base in major municipalities, the problems grow exponentially.  Yesterday's solutions are made for yesterday.  We must keep the focus on the future.

At Keen Pump, we stress new innovations in the creation of sump pump products and systems that can help your municipality keep up.  In order to focus on the solutions, we need to focus on the problems.

Here are four opportunities we see that require constant attention, and new innovations:  Environmental concerns: Wastewater treatment plants are responsible for removing harmful pollutants and contaminants from wastewater before it is released into the environment. We can not take our impact on the environment for granted.  Innovations in the wastewater industry can help to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of the treatment process, reducing the environmental impact of wastewater discharge.

Resource conservation: Wastewater contains valuable resources, such as nutrients and energy, that can be recovered and reused. Innovations in wastewater treatment can help to recover these resources, reducing the need for new resources and promoting a circular economy.

Cost savings: Wastewater management is a significant expense for municipalities and  industries. This is magnified when there are issues causing excess maintenance or downtime.  To battle this concern, Keen Pump has patented our new “Pulverizer Pump”, which shreds and slurries things never intended to find their way into sewers, clogging pumps and stopping the process.  It is revolutionary and designed to keep up with the demands of today’s changing society.  Click here to learn more about the “Pulverizer Pump” and how it may save your system time, money, and hassle.

Public health: The improper treatment of wastewater can have significant public health impacts, including the spread of waterborne diseases.  It is crucial that your system be upgraded to the level called for in your community.

If your municipalities wastewater system was designed to manage wastewater needs for yesterday’s population base, it is imperative that you consider upgrading to the latest standards for wastewater management.  Keen Pump has our eye on the needs of the future, and we may be able to help retrofit your current system with state-of-the-art products designed to meet today’s needs.

If it’s your job to move the wastewater, then it’s our job to keep our eyes on the best ways to help you do just that.  Thank you for trusting Keen Pump.
